Who is ASH?
ASH (Anthony Stewart Head) is a British actor who has appeared in numerous different TV shows. His characters range from the sappily romantic (the guy in the Taster's Choice [or, for those of you in England, Gold Blend] coffee commercials), to the adorably bookish (Rupert Giles, librarian/Watcher of Buffy the Vampire Slayer), to the repressed and angst-filled (Oliver Sampson of VR.5), to bizarre magicians with rather libertine tendencies (Adam Klaus of Jonathan Creek), to a very weird psycho in sunglasses (Pitlock in Royce).
Is there an ASH fan club?
SonjaRose for an application. To join the ash-gasp mailing list: send mail to ash-gasp-request@eskimo.com; in the body of the message, put either subscribe ash-gasp or subscribe ash-gasp-digest.
Where can I see ASH as _____?
Buffy is showing currently, most likely on your local WB station, Mondays at 9pm. VR.5 first aired several years ago, and was canceled, but is being repeated on the SciFi channel. (I don't know the time, mainly because I don't get the SciFi channel. Unfortunately.) Jonathan Creek is still running I think, but ASH is no longer in it; for shows like that and Royce, you'll have to find someone with back copies. He also played Frank-N-Furter in the Rocky Horror Show; there are wavs and pictures in various places on the net.
What are some acronyms I should know?
Other than common net acronyms (IMHO [In my humble opinion], brb [be right back], bbl [be back later], YMMV [Your mileage may vary], etc.), there are some common only to #gasp, namely: ASH (Anthony Stewart Head), BtVS (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), TC (Taster's Choice), and SMG (Sarah Michelle Gellar, our Buffy).
If I go on the channel and no one talks to me, am I being ignored?
Doubtful. First, make sure that there are actually other people on the channel - more than you, K9, and Adam. If there are, then just be patient - often, when we're alone on #gasp, we will do other things too, and only pay occasional attention to the channel. Also, there are usually more people in the evenings than the rest of the day, and the channel is much more lively then.
Who is K9, and why doesn't he talk to me?
K9 is Chatnet's official bot. (Bots, for the uninitiated, are basically scripts or computer programs, that perform various functions.) He doesn't talk because he's just a bot. His main function is to automatically op people on his list, as far as we're concerned.
Who is Adam?
Adam (the one on IRC, that is, not the one ASH plays in JC) is a different type of bot, and is personal to us (rather than Chatnet-wide). He, also, has a userlist of people whom he likes. He also likes to flirt (in which regard he is quite like his namesake).
Can I have ops?
Pleeease?
No. We give ops to people who've been around for a while. You need to earn our trust. Now stop bugging us about ops. The channel isn't moderated.
